• Spline shafts are designed to maximize the amount of contact between the shaft surface and interlocking parts. When used for anti-rotary applications, a spline shaft locks into place, preventing rotation while still allowing for linear motion.
• Splined shafts enhance system performance and durability by preventing slippage and ensuring even load distribution. Their adaptability and precision make them preferred in industries requiring secure and efficient power transfer.

There are many kinds of processing methods for spline shafts, mainly using cutting methods such as hobbing, milling and grinding, and plastic deformation processing methods such as cold beating and cold rolling can also be used.

(1)Hobbing method: use a spline hob to process on the milling machine or gear hobbing machine according to the expansion method.

(2) milling method: on the universal milling machine, use a special forming milling cutter to directly mill the contour between the teeth, and use the indexing head to divide the teeth and mill tooth by tooth; if the forming milling cutter is not used, two disc milling cutters can also be used to mill both sides of a tooth at the same time, and then use a disc milling cutter to slightly trim the bottom diameter after the tooth by tooth milling.

(3) Grinding method: use a forming grinding wheel to grind the spline tooth side and bottom diameter on the grinding machine.

•  Each key of the spline shaft should be equally divided into the circumference
•  The key side of the spline should be symmetrical and parallel to the shaft line
•  The key width, major diameter and minor diameter of the spline should comply with the dimensional accuracy requirements specified in the  drawing.
•  Each processed surface should meet the surface roughness requirements specified in the drawing.
