The most efficient and energy-saving method for using motors

Apr 22, 2024

To achieve the highest efficiency of the motor in use, it is necessary to choose the appropriate capacity and model of the motor based on the different properties of the load. If the capacity selection of the electric motor is too large, it not only causes investment waste, but also has low efficiency and power factor, resulting in a significant waste of electrical energy.

Efficient and energy-saving use of motors is the pursuit of every user. Below, Anhui Wannan Electric Technology will tell you the most efficient and energy-saving method for using motors.

1. If the capacity of the motor is selected too small, it will be difficult to start or barely start, and the working current will exceed the rated current of the motor, causing the motor winding to overheat or even burn out.

2. When selecting the motor capacity, it is also necessary to consider the size of the power supply transformer capacity. Generally speaking, the capacity of the maximum asynchronous motor that can be directly started should not exceed one-third of the power supply transformer capacity.

3. From the perspective of energy conservation, for continuously running electric motors, such as those paired with water pumps, fans, etc., the efficiency is highest when the motor operates at a load rate of about 80%. For agricultural electric motors, their efficiency is highest when operating at an average load rate. Therefore, for agricultural motors, when the average load is more than 70% of the rated capacity of the motor, the selection of motor capacity can be considered reasonable.

4. For motors that run for a short period of time, such as those paired with electric gates, it is allowed to operate at a power higher than the rated power, which should be determined by whether the torque of the motor can meet the requirements of the load torque.
